Russell J. Gould, Sr.
Of Mount Prospect

Russell J. Gould, Sr. was born on August 12, 1939 in Medford, Massachusetts to John and Phyllis (nee Gibbons).  He passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013 in Mount Prospect.

He was an internationally known inventor and consultant and won engineering awards for his distinguished work in the plastics industry.  After being diagnosed with prostate cancer, he worked tirelessly to educate and support prostate cancer programs locally and nationally.  Russ was a cancer specialist and counselor with Wellness Place in Palatine.  His dedication to individuals and his work with communities such as the SEA Blue Prostate Cancer Walk/Run directly affected the lives of thousands of men and their families.

Russell is survived by his children, Russell Jr. (Tracey) Gould, Nancy (John) O'Brien and Scott (Paula) Gould; his grandchildren, Russell J. Gould III, Devon T. Gould, Shannon M. O'Brien, Kelley A. O'Brien; brother-in-laws Joe Barry, Robert (Donna) Lewis; sister-in-law Jean Richards and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Judy; his parents; sister, Judith Barry; nephew Robbie Lewis and Francis and Jean Lewis.

Visitation Friday, December 27, 2013  from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights.  Prayer Service 10:00 am Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the funeral home.  Interment is at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
