Norman J. Toberman
Of Arlington Heights

Norman J. Toberman was born on September 8, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Irvin and Katherine (nee Zielinski) Toberman. He died Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Church Creek Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

In 1959 Norman became the first Village Engineer for Arlington Heights and later became Village Engineer for Addison.  In 1972, he started the family engineering company, Norman J. Toberman Associates, with his two sons and wife.  He continued working until the very end. He served in the United States Air Force and Illinois Air National Guard, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.  He was Base Civil Engineer for the 126th Air Refueling Group at O’Hare International Airport. 

Norman was a life member of ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers), and member of the Civil War Roundtable.  He had an interest in travel, Military History and enjoyed SCUBA diving and Softball in his earlier years.
 
Norman is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn L. (nee Jedlicka); sons Mark J. (Geri) and Cliff J. (Anna); granddaughter, Julie Toberman; sister-in-law, Betty Jane (Joe) Vavra; and nieces, Ellie (Don) Anderson and Denise (Steve) Thompson.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents who are buried at Bohemian National Cemetery, Chicago.
 
Visitation from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Monday, December 9, 2013 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Funeral Service 12:00 pm, Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd.  Private interment at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
