Catherine M. Higgins
of Palatine

Catherine M. Higgins, nee Smith, of Palatine, died December 3, 2013, beloved wife of the late William E.; loving mother of Bill (Mary Lou) Higgins, Jim Higgins, Mary (Jack) Bremner, Jean (Bill) Cook and Robert (Joellen) Higgins.  In more than 100 years on this earth, she demonstrated a will and perseverance that few could match. 

She had a special love for each of her 16 grandchildren and her 23 great-grandchildren.  She had a strong faith in God that never wavered, despite the difficult circumstances she routinely encountered.  She was small of stature but had an incredibly big heart.  She was quiet but forceful and she never, ever lost her sense of humor.  She was a life-long Cubs fan and never saw her dream of a World Series victory fulfilled.

Visitation 3-9 PM Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights.  Prayers 9:15 AM Friday, December 6, 2013 at the funeral home to St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church, 1201 Anderson (Anderson & Williams), Palatine for Mass at 10 AM.  Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Catherine’s name to St. Baldrick’s Foundation, 1333 S. Mayflower Avenue, Suite 400, Monrovia, CA  91016 or to JourneyCare Hospice, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL  60010.
