Megan Upshaw
Of Arlington Heights
Megan Upshaw was born on June 1, 1965 in Chicago, and adopted by Thomas
and Mary (nee Portman) Zimniewicz. She died Monday, December 26, 2011 in
Arlington Heights after a four and a half year battle with breast
cancer.
Megan volunteered at Windsor School, St. James Church and for Honor
Flight Chicago. She was a Sales Agent for Prudential Realtors from 2004
to 2007.
Megan is survived by her husband, James Upshaw; her son, Alexander
Thomas Upshaw; her daughter, Arieanna Marie Upshaw; her father; her
brother, Jamie (friend Dorothy) Zimniewicz; her sisters, Jody (John)
Kopsky and Marianne (Rick) Roto; her sisters-in-law, Joy (Craig) Sloan,
Michelle Manisco and Manette (Peter) Nilson; her nieces and nephews,
Nick, Peter, Stephanie and Christine Roto, Cassie and Kaleb Sloan, Tyler
and Sean Pursley, and Joseph and Jonah Nilson.
She was preceded in death by her mother and her brother-in-law Jason
(Kim) Pursley.
Her most important job was “Mom.” Megan had a great smile, and a
wonderful enthusiasm for life. She faced her illness just as she faced
other difficulties with an extraordinary outlook and unfailing resolve.
She has changed us all, and we are all the better for having known and
loved her. She will be missed.
Visitation from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Thursday, December 29, 2011 at
Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington
Heights and Friday, December 30, 2011 from 10:00 AM until the time of
Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights
Rd., Arlington Heights. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
