Harry Charles Knaack
Of Arlington Heights
Harry Charles Knaack was born on July 30, 1928 in Arlington Heights, to
Harry and Helen (nee Klehm) Knaack. He died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at
Pepper Family Hospice in Barrington from Multiple Myeloma.
Mr. Knaack co-owned Lynn's Hallmark Shop with his wife Lois, at 17 S.
Dunton in Arlington Heights for 35 years from 1969 until 2004. He also
owned Arlington Travel Agency for 10 years. He was a lifelong member of
St. Peter Lutheran Church where he was a former Chairman of the Board of
Elders and served on the Board for many years, participated in Bible
Study and served Communion.
Harry was an ATP rated private pilot, former flight instructor and SCUBA
diver.
Harry is survived by his spouse of 61 years Lois nee Unger, whom he met
their Freshman year at Arlington High School; his children Michael
Knaack, Scott Knaack, Karen (William) Sheetz, Christopher Knaack;
Kimberly Knaack Barrett and Patricia (John) Olson; his grandchildren
Tiara Thurston, Nolan Ryan Sheetz, Kendra Neill, Kara Sheetz, Stephen
Olson, Lauren Olson and Alexandra Miller-Knaack; his great grandchildren
Luke and Isabella Brown and Raymond Gaspard.
He was preceded in death by parents; his brother Lawrence and his sister
Lois (Robert L.) Nelson.
Memorial visitation is from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Glueckert
Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. A
memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the St.
Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive St., Arlington Heights, IL, 60004.
The family will receive guests from 11:30 a.m. until the time of
service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church
or to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Rd., Barrington,
IL 60010.
