Dorothy M. Mertes was born on April 2, 1931 in Chicago to Edward and Genevieve “Jenny” (nee Cornier) VanHove. She passed away on December 29, 2009 at Holy Family Hospital in Des Plaines.

She is survived by her children; Nancy (James) Keuth , John Mertes and James (Ann) Mertes; her grandchildren, Amy (Fred) Hortillosa, Mike Keuth and Josh, Abby and Jordan Mertes; and her great-grandchildren, Nate and Ava Hortillosa.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eric Granstrom and her daughter in law Stephanie Mertes.

Visitation from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, January 1, 2009 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 AM Saturday, January 2, 2009 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to Saint Mary Parish 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove for Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment Private.
