Harry H. Holm
Of Northbrook

Harry H. Holm was born on January 3, 1920 to Herman E. and Anna M. (nee Krueger) Holm in Chicago, IL. He died December 9, 2009 at Brighton Gardens in Prospect Heights.

Mr. Holm is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred (nee Knitter) Holm; his children, Nancy M. (John) Spohnholtz of Barrington and Harry “Skip” (Heike) of Buffalo Grove; his grandchildren, Catherine Spohnholtz, Laura (John) Donahue and Chelsea and Brenden Holm; and his sisters Evelyn Van Aken and Mildred Haumann.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Lydia, Mabel, Agnes, Mary Lou, Walter, Robert, Herman and Arthur.

Before retiring Harry was a carpenter with Steigerwaldt Cement and a member of Carpenter Union Local #839 for sixty-two years. He was a troop leader of Boy Scouts of American and the Order of the Arrow.

Harry served with the 3rd Army 106th Calvary in the European Theater during WW II. He was awarded a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars for his service.

Visitation 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Friday, December 11, 2009 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:00 Am Saturday, December 12, 2009 from the funeral home to St. Catherine Laboure, 3535 Thornwood Ave., Glenview for Mass at 10:00 AM. Entombment at All Saints Mausoleum, Des Plaines.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or to a charity of your choice.
