Maria Schmitz was born on April 1, 1915 in Germany to Hermann and Maria (nee Schaefer) Schmidt. She passed away on December 21, 2007 at Lutheran Home and Services in Arlington Heights.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Heinz O. Schmitz, her daughters, Helga (Fritz) Bayer and Renate (Joseph) Kampf, her grandchildren, Lisa Bayer, Christopher Bayer, Juliette (Jeffrey) Triebe, Joseph P. Kampf III and Eric A. (Kathryn) Kampf her great grandchildren, Jeremy and Abigail Triebe and Jake, Max and Megan Kampf.

Visitation 8:30 AM-9:30 AM Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM. Entombment All Saints Mausoleum.
