Edward J. Doherty
Of Arlington Heights

Edward J. Doherty was born February 16, 1935 in Boston, Massachusetts to Edward Joseph and Emma (nee Gerhke) Doherty. He died Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights.

Mr. Doherty received his undergraduate and M.B.A. degree’s from Northwestern University. He was employed by USG for over 41 years, retiring in 2000 as the Director of International Finance. Throughout this life Edward enjoyed volunteering his time for non-profit organizations including serving as Chairman of the Board for Equip for Equality, Illinois Spina Bifida Assn. where he served on the board of directors as Treasurer and Project Manager for the Executive Service Corps of Chicago.

His survivors include his wife of almost 50 years, Eleanor L. nee Weller, whom he married August 10, 1957; his children Patrick E. (Patricia) Doherty of Pingry Grove, Ill, Mary C. Doherty of Chicago and Thomas E. (Kristin) Doherty of Portland, Oregon; his grandchildren Diana, Luci and Ava; his brother James (Barbara) Doherty; his brother-in-law Thomas (Judy) Weller, and several nieces and nephews.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation from 3:00 until 9:00 PM, Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 AM, Thursday, December 21, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial following Mass.
