Maria A. Baron
Of Arlington Heights

 Maria was born July 9, 1940 in Long Island, New York to George Nicholas and Betty (nee Ponson) Vrakelos.  She died Thursday, November 21, 2013 in Arlington Heights.

Maria worked as an executive secretary for United Airlines.  She was a member of Our Lady Wayside Catholic Church in Arlington Heights.  Maria was also a member of Allied Arts, Bridge Club, and enjoyed playing in woman’s golf league.  She traveled many places with her husband, John.  Maria always had a beautiful smile and always had an excellent sense of humor. When you met Maria for the first time, she made you feel like you were her best friend. 
 
Maria is survived by her spouse, of 53 years, John, whom she married on June 12, 1960 in Chicago; her children John (Larisa) Baron of Johnsburg, Debbie (Roy) Carlstrom of McHenry, Michael (Julianne) Baron of McHenry, and Mark (Hazel) Baron of Libertyville; grandchildren Shannon, Corinne, Christopher, Ryan, Nicholas, Madeline, Niki and soon to be Mark; brothers Nicholas Vrakelos, Christopher (Teresa) Vrakelos and George Vrakelos.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
 
Visitation Monday, November 25, 2013 from  3:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road,(4 blocks south of Palatine Road, Arlington Heights, IL  60004.  Prayers 8:45 am, Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the funeral home proceeding to Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights, IL  60005 for a 9:30 am Funeral Mass.  Interment at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.
