Louis F. Lekan

Deacon Louis F. Lekan, formerly of Arlington Heights, was born on October 27, 1924 in Cleveland, OH to Joseph and Frances (nee Perko) Lekan. He passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 in Libertyville.

Lou was a staff sergeant and served in the Army with the 71st Infantry during WWII. He served as a deacon at St. James Church for over 20 years.

Louis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bernadette (nee Supan); his children, Deborah A. Klein, Chris (Janice) Lekan, Gary P. Lekan, Betsey M. Leach and Jennifer (Daniel) Cusick; his grandchildren, Danielle A. Lekan, Megan (Jason) Hancock, Catherine J. Cusick, Kyra L. Leach, Madelyn R. Cusick and Hayden R. Leach; and his great-grandchildren, Haley Mae Hancock and Chloe Lynn Hancock; his sisters, Rosalie Lekan and Sr. Miriam Joseph Lekan OP.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey L. Lekan; his parents; and his nine siblings.

Visitation from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 am Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Funeral Home, proceeding to St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 am. Interment private.
