L. McCabe
Of Arlington Heights
James L. McCabe, a 48 year resident of Arlington Heights, was born July
11, 1931 in Chicago to Leroy James and Mary (nee Fleming) McCabe. He
died Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Lutheran Home and Services.
Mr. McCabe was a retired attorney and former partner of McCabe and Venit,
Chicago. He was a 1954 graduate of DePaul University, where he played
basketball under legendary coach Ray Meyer then served in the Army
during the Korean War. James coached numerous youth sports in Arlington
Heights and was a long-time active member and Lector at Our Lady of the
Wayside Church.
Jim is survived by his wife Mary Kay (nee Sullivan), whom he married
September 20, 1958; his children James E. (Elaine) McCabe of Lena, Ill.,
Ann M. Tovella of Arlington Heights, Carol M. (Dan) Zielinski of
Algonquin, Robert J. (Mary) McCabe of Des Plaines, John P. (Virginia)
McCabe of Palatine, Jeanne M. (Mike) Borta of Arlington Heights and
Marilyn A. McCabe of Arlington Heights; and his grandchildren Kelly,
Brian, Kyle, Sarah, Daniel, David, Timothy, Robert Emmet, Maggie, Ellie,
Jack, Matt, Will, Molly, Charlie and Sam.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation from 3:00 until 8:00 PM, Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010 at the
Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks
south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 8:45 AM, Monday,
November 29, 2010 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to Our Lady of
the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights for Mass at 9:30
AM. Burial at All Saints Cemetery.
