Bernard “Pete” Johnson
Of Arlington Heights for 58 years

Bernard “Pete” Johnson was born on August 12, 1924 to Victor and Valborg, nee Bernadotte, Johnson in Chicago. He passed away on November 16, 2010 at Pepper Family Hospice House in Barrington.

He served in the South Pacific for the Marines during WWII where he earned a Purple Heart. Pete was an avid Cub and Bear fan. He was a Cement Mason for 30 years before retiring from School District #214. Pete loved his family dearly.

Pete is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth “Bette”, nee Whalen; his children, Suzann Johnson-Hollar of Olympia, WA, Richard R. Johnson of Arlington Heights,
And Virginia “Ginger” (Jim) Fulara of Wheeling; his grandchildren, Lauri (Magnus) Kriva-Wedhammar, Samantha John Hartmann, Allyson (Fiancé John McAuliffe) Donovan, Kristen, Rachel and Jennifer Fulara and his great grandson Mason; his siblings, Victoria (John) Corcoran and his sisters-in-law, Alice, Lenore and Beth Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his children, John “Jack” and Constance “Connie” Johnson; his siblings, Bernice (Charles) Gohs, Arline (Rufus) Bose, John V. Johnson and Walter A. Johnson.

Visitation at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 20, 2010 until time of Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Interment Private.
