Marvin D. Slagh
Of Rolling Meadows
Marvin D. Slagh was born February 22, 1929 to John and Mammie (nee
Brunner) in Holland, Michigan. Mr. Slagh passed away on November 12,
2010 in Rolling Meadows.
He served as a military police officer for the 88th Infantry of the
United States Army. Before his retirement in 1987 he was an Account
Executive for IBM Corporation in Chicago. Once retired Marvin became a
charter boat captain on Lake Michigan. Marvin also loved to travel
overseas to other countries with his wife, Ardeth.
Marvin is survived by wife, Ardeth (nee Raymond) Slagh, whom he married
on October 2, 1954 in Gross Point Woods, Michigan; his children,
Geoffrey (Dawn) Slagh of Wildwood, Mary (Ralph) Rybacki of Long Grove,
Sarah (Thomas) Balacek of Fox Lake, Jennifer Teufel of Rolling Meadows
and Eric (Sharon) Slagh of Hoffman Estates; his grandchildren, Stacy R.
(Ryan) Paras, Laura R. (Jeffrey) Zellman, David R., Martin and Erika
Teufel, Jason Slagh, Danny and Kevin Hannan and Christi Balacek; his
great grandchildren, Cameron Balacek, Michael Paras and William Zellman;
his sister Eleanor Brunsell; sister in laws Clara VanderLaan and Pat
Housel and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, John, Ed, Bill
and Jim Slagh and his sister, Mariam Krings
Memorial visitation Monday November 15, 2010 from11:00 AM until the time
of service at 1:00 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N.
Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington
Heights. Luncheon to follow at Palm Court. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to a favorite
charity.
