Maurice 'Moe' Henry Torres

Maurice Henry 'Moe' Torres, age 49, was tragically killed on Thursday, November 8, 2007. Moe was the son of Hernando Torres and the late Esther Zamudio. After leaving Glenbrook South High School, Moe entered the United States Marines and obtained the rank of Lance Corporal. For most of his career Moe was in the mortgage industry, receiving several awards from Allied Mortgage during his tenure there. Moe was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, boating, playing golf, shooting pool and bowling. He especially derived great pleasure sharing his love of boating with his family and friends. He so enjoyed his regular golf excursions with his many golfing buddies.

Moe's greatest joy was the time he spent with his nieces and nephews, sharing countless stories and inside jokes accompanied with many, many laughs.

Moe's big heart was well known among the many people who crossed his path, be it professionally or socially. If Moe met you once you were his friend for life. Like a good Marine, first to charge the hill--he was always the first to help a friend in need.

He was a visionary with an incredible passion for life.

Moe is survived by his brother Luis H. Torres, sister Claudia F. (Tim) Corrigan, brother James A. (Carolina) Torres, sister Heidi M. (Michael) Campbell, and his dear friend Sharon Torres. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Jimmy, Julia, Cristina, Carly, Daniel, Nicolas, Mariana, Matthew & Timothy as well his many aunts, uncles and cousins in Colombia, South America.

Memorial visitation from 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 17, 2007 until the time of Memorial Service celebrating Moe's life at 12:00 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 1234 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.

In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations in Moe's name to Salute, Inc., P.O. Box 236, Prospect Heights, IL 60070-0236.
