Leo Edward Specht
Of Bartlett

Leo Edward Specht was born October 24, 1924 in Aurora, IL to August and Martha (nee Able). He died Saturday, November 11, 2006 at his home in Bartlett.

Mr. Specht served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre as a Private First Class. He received a Bronze Star for meritorious service during WW II. Later Leo worked as a maintenance technician for the Village of Hoffman Estates until his retirement in 1984. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. After his retirement, he loved the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Leo loved to work with his hands and could fix almost anything.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Walburga (nee Mukahirn) Specht, whom he married January 19, 1946 at St. James Catholic Church in Arlington Heights; his children Martin (Paulette) Specht of Alta Loma, California and Karen (Paul) Weber of Elgin; loved grandfather of Robert Specht of Rancho-Cucamonga, California, Gregory (Amy) Weber of Eleva, Wisconsin, Raymond (Jamie) Weber of Lake In the Hills and Stacey Weber of Chicago; his great-grandchildren, Samuel, Joshua, Madeline, and Nathan Weber.

Leo is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Margaret (nee Specht) Nicholls.

Funeral service 10:30 AM, Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (four blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Visitation from 3:00 until 7:00 PM, Monday, November 13, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd. Interment St. John’s Cemetery in Arlington Heights.
