Olaf Verner Pikat
Of Arlington Heights

Olaf Verner Pikat was born April 7, 1933 in Tartu, Estonia to Aleksander and Amanda Katharina Amalie (nee Niggol) Pikat. He died October 16, 2012 at Northwest Community Hospital.

Mr. Pikat immigrated to the USA with his mother and his older brother, Valentin Rein Pikat after his father died in Germany. After a tour of duty in the US Army, Olaf found a career in the field of advertising and was employed by the advertising agency Foote, Cone, & Belding. He stayed with the firm for the duration of his working life. Olaf received a BBA degree from Northwestern University.

He is survived by his daughters Tina (Dave) Arthur of Schaumburg and Helvi (Nick) Sowa of Millstone Township, NJ; his grandchildren Keely and Megan Arthur and Luke Sowa; his brother Valentin “Rein” (Hilja) Pikat; and his nephew Eero Pikat.

Olaf is preceded in death by his wife Arlenna (nee Tarkin); his parents; his half-brother Victor, his half-sister Lydia .

Family will receive guests from 9:30 AM until the Memorial Service at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights.
