John Howard Kehl, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2012 in Wheeling, IL surrounded by his family, at the age of 87.

Mr. Kehl was born in Chicago, IL on December 4, 1924 to William and Elizabeth (nee Prescher). He was a graduate of Marquette University and served in the Navy during WWII.

John was married to the late Marilyn Hafner Kehl. They raised their family in Skokie, Illinois. He is survived by his three sons; Bill (Trish), John, Jeff (Mary); nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law Jeanne Hafner; and his lifelong friend and companion, Frances Johnston.

John is preceded in death by his son Jim, daughter Marilyn; and his parents.

Visitation from 10:30 AM until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Addolorata Villa, 555 McHenry Rd., Wheeling, Ill. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, 721 N. LaSalle, Chicago, IL 60654.
