John R. "Jack" Franzen
Of Arlington Heights

John R. "Jack" Franzen was born on April 15, 1931 in Chicago to John and Gladys (nee Zimmerman) Franzen. He died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at in Arlington Heights.

Jack was a co-owner of R. A. Hanke Co. Inc. in Elk Grove Village. He was a member of Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church in Arlington Heights. He was an avid golfer in his retirement years, enjoyed fishing trips with family and friends to Canada, loved to travel the world with Margaret, and loved to spend time with family and friends.

John is survived by his spouse, of 60 years, Margaret, children, Mark and wife Jeanette Bauer Franzen, Greg and wife Marilyn Franzen, Kathy and her husband Louis J. Rotta, Danette and husband Larry Minter, Timothy and wife Kathleen Franzen, Joanne and husband John Madigan, Amy and husband Paul Rodgers, and Joseph and wife Polly Beck Franzen; grandfather of 20; great-grandfather of 3; brother of Sr. Phyllis L. Franzen, SSSF, Thomas E. and wife Betsy Franzen, and Ronald J. and wife Donna Franzen.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Prayers 8:45 am Friday, October 12, 2012 at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., proceeding to Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 432 West Park Arlington Heights, IL 60005, for a 9:30 am Funeral Mass. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.
