Jane D. Swannie
Of Arlington Heights

Jane D. Swannie was born on November 20, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Anne (nee Carney) Daley. She died Monday, October 1, 2012 in Arlington Heights.

Jane taught elementary education for ten years and spent two years as a guidance counselor after receiving her Master’s Degree in Education from Loyola University. Later she held positions with the Colorado Society of CPA’s, the American Academy of Pediatrics, retiring in 2007 from Global Material Technologies, Inc. Jane was a dedicated volunteer at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle and was an active member of the Mundelein Alumnae Board. She and Don shared a love of books and she could always be counted on to recommend a good read. One of her special qualities was her ability to appreciate and maintain lifelong friendships. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Arlington Heights.

Jane is survived by Don, her spouse of 45 years; sister Barbara (Tilford) Jelderks, brother John F. (Joan) Daley; sister-in-law of Margaret (Swannie) Singer (the late Clifford), Claire (Swannie) and Charles Johnson, Frances (Swannie) Iani (the late Louis), Georgene (Swannie) and Bruce Klier, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation Monday, October 8, 2012 from 8:30 AM until the time of Prayers 9:30 AM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights to St. James Catholic Church, 831 North Arlington Hts. Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
