Laila
Malecki
Of Arlington Heights
Laila Wigren-Malecki was born on April 17, 1926 in Chicago to Aleksander
and Elizabeth Wigren. She passed away on October 14, 2010 at Northwest
Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
Laila and her twin sister, Ella, were popular as the Toni Twins during
the1950’s ad campaign for Toni Home Permanents. They also danced at the
Chez Paree, Chicago’s famous Supper Club of the 1920’s through 1950’s.
In her later years, she was a piano teacher in the Arlington Heights
area.
Laila is survived by her husband Larry Malecki; her daughters, Liz (Jim
Cosentino) Malecki, Melissa Malecki and Joy (Kevin) Wade; and her twin
sister, Ella (late Edwin) Drath.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Helen Galloway.
Visitation 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at the
Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks
south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights, followed by a Commital
Service at Memory Gardens at 1:45 PM, 2501 E. Euclid, Arlington Heights,
IL. Entombment at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
