Alphonse L. Altieri was born January 1, 1929 in San Lorenzello, Italy to Alphonse and Anna (nee Navaretta) Altieri. He died Monday, October 20, 2008 at Alexian Brothers Rehabilitation Hospital in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
Before retiring, Mr. Altieri was a payroll manager employed by Kraft Foods for over 25 years. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
His survivors include his wife of 33 years, Barbara (nee O’Neill) Altieri, whom he married October 4, 1975; his son Joseph Altieri of Chicago; his sister Enes (Joseph) Amodeo, his brothers Harry Altieri and Orlando (Marie) Altieri; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Kathy and Ralph Schnackle and Patti and Steve Miner.
Alphonse is preceded in death by his parents; his sister Mary (Louis) Gauthier his brother Carmen (Velia) Altieri and his sister-in-law Laura Altieri.
Visitation from 3:00 until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 AM, Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to United Way C/O P.O. Box 294, Mount Prospect, IL 60056.
