John Kearney O’Doherty, Jr. was born December 19, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York to John Kearney and Dorothy (nee Richardson) O’Doherty. He passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2008, peacefully at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with prostate cancer.

His survivors include his wife of 43 years, Maureen (nee Cox); his children John (Christiane), James (Cynthia). Thomas (Lorena), Kathleen, Maureen (Theodore) Homa and Mary (Robert) Perrone; his grandchildren Nicholas, Cullen, Lauren, Alana, and Ryan O’Doherty, Jack and Edward Perrone and Quinn and Grace Homa; his sisters Barbara Ferguson of Boynton Beach, Florida and Mary Faydash of La Grange Park, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation from 3:00 until 9:00 PM, Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 AM, Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 AM. Burial at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.

In lieu of flowers, Masses or memorial contributions to Us-Too Prostate Cancer Resource Center, 1619 Colonial Parkway, Palatine, IL 60067 would be appreciated.
