Ray E. Mell
Of Arlington Heights

Ray E. Mell was born December 3, 1916 in Chicago to Edmond and Helen (nee Victor) Musielski. He died October 13, 2006 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights.

Mr. Mell served as a sergeant in the United States Army during WWII in Manilla, Philippines. He was a Fine Paper Salesman for the Midland Paper Company in the Chicago area, retiring in 1992, at the age of 75. Ray was a member of the Holy Rosary Council, Knights of Columbus #4485 and a 4th Degree Member of the Elizabeth Ann Seton Assembly. He was an officer in the Toastmasters Club of Chicago and a member of the Paper Club of Chicago. He was also a trumpet player, performing with the Palatine Concert Band at William Rainey Harper Community College and with the Golden Nuggets, a swing band.

He is survived by his daughters, Helene Dunne of Palatine, Marjean Mell of Roswell, GA, Mary Rose Mallek of Chicago and Ann Marie (Peter) DeMarco of Lincroft, NJ; his grandchildren, Russell (Karen) Mitchell, Thomas Mitchell and Elizabeth DeMarco; and his great-grandchildren, Allen Clark and Jeremy Mitchell.

Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (nee Leskovar) and his brother, Ralph Mielke of Melrose Park.

Visitation from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Sunday, October 15, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (four blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 8:45 AM, Monday, October 16, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights for Mass at 9:30 AM. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
