Stephen J. Urick
Of Arlington Heights

Stephen J. Urick was born in Arlington Heights on August 23, 1916 to Thomas and Anna (nee Jamecny) Urick. He passed away at his home Sunday evening, October 8, 2006.

Mr. Urick was a life long resident of Arlington Heights and member of St. James Church. He was a member for 61 years in the Carpenters Local #839. Steve was a master gardener, a cross-country skier and an avid downhill skier. He was a craftsman extraordinaire who built his own house in 1950. Steve was a devoted husband and father. While serving in the Army during WWII he helped secure the Anzio beachhead in Italy.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bessie (nee Vanek), his children, Ron (Paula) Urick of Prairie Grove, Jeanne (Tim Frye) Fuhlbrugge of Eldridge, Iowa and Maryann (John) Urick Glowczwski of Texas City, Texas, his grandchildren, Kara and Jenna Fuhlbrugge and Nick Urick.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Joe Urick and Frank Urick and his sisters, Mary Urick and Betty Hildebrandt

Visitation from 3 PM until 9 PM Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (four blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 AM Thursday, October 12, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Buffalo Grove.
