Eugene E. "Gene" Roth

Of Arlington Heights

Eugene E. "Gene" Roth age 79, was born April 24, 1926 in Donnelly, Minnesota to Francis and Grace (nee Meyer) Roth.  He died Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at home.

Gene was a 31-year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights where he served as an elder, trustee and President of the Men's Club.  He was a very active 35-year member of the Arlington Heights Lions Club where he was past president and a recent recipient of the Melvin Jones Award.  Gene attended Berea College, Berea Kentucky and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C. where he received a bachelor's degree in business administration.  While in the U.S. Navy, he served as a commander in the Navy Ships Supply Officer Division and was stationed in Chicago and Dallas, Texas.  He had 30 years as an active U.S. Navy Reserve Officer.  He was a lifetime member of the Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity.  He retired from the First National Bank of Des Plaines in 1985 with over 45 years in the banking and finance business.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years Dorothy L. (nee Aiken) whom he married on June 22, 1963 in Chicago his children David (Elizabeth) Roth and Robin (Ismael) Traverso; his grandchildren: Jessica, Chelsie and Kyle; his brother James (Barbara) Roth of Arlington Heights; his sister Mary (the late Burt) Tremblay.  He was loved by many nieces and nephews.

Eugene was preceded in death by his brother Ralph and sisters: Frances Curran and Monica Donahue.

Visitation Saturday from 3 PM until 8 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights and Sunday 2 PM until time of Funeral Service at 3 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, 302 N. Dunton Ave.  Arlington Heights.  Internment Private.   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, 302 N. Dunton Ave. Arlington Heights, IL 60004, the Lions Club, P.O. Box 513, Arlington Heights, IL 60006 or the Navy Supply Corps Foundation, 1425 Prince Ave. Athens, GA 30601.
