Geraldine N. Spink

Of Arlington Heights

Geraldine N. Spink (age 77), a 53 year resident of Arlington Heights, was born January 5, 1928 in Baraboo, Wisconsin to William and Ethel (nee Husband) Berkley.  She died Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights.

Mrs. Spink was a proud employee for the Village of Arlington Heights for 26 years before retiring on Feb 14, 1995.  She worked as Assistant to the Purchasing Coordinator and later as the Cashier Supervisor.  She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights for over 50 years, participating in Presbyterian Women Circles and Singles groups.  She Volunteered at the Arlington Heights Senior Center and enjoyed taking many trips with the Senior Center and Cosper Groups.

Geraldine was beloved by many.  She was a person who always considered the needs of others above herself. As such, she was always there to help you out in any way.  She will be sorely missed by her friends and family.

Geraldine's survivors include her sons Don (Dee) Spink of Carol Stream and Dave (Debbie) Spink of Elgin; she was the doting grandmother of Jenny Spink, Jamie (Scott) Bingaman and Taryn Spink and great grandmother of Ethan Bingaman; her  sister Vivian (Edwin) Idzikowski survives her as well as her sister-in-law Paula Matthiesen and her nieces Sharon Karberg and Debbie  Matthiesen-Friedman.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother William and Ethel Berkley, her husband Bruce G. Spink, her brother William Berkley and her sister Bea Sucherek

Visitation 3:00 until 9:00 PM, Thursday, October 27, 2005 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Funeral service 11:00 AM, Friday, October 28, 2005 at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, 302 N. Dunton Ave., Arlington Heights.  In state at church from 10:00 AM until time of service.  Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights or to the American Cancer Society, 100 W. Palatine Rd., Suite #150, Palatine, IL 60067.
