Kathleen Diane Fires Of Palatine Kathleen Diane Fires, formerly of Arlington Heights, was born December 9, 1946 in Chicago, to Fred and Audrey (nee Kirsch) Borgardt. She died Sunday, October 23, 2005 from a rare form of cancer, Leiomyosarcoma, at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Mrs. Fires, a 1965 graduate of Prospect High School, was a full-time homemaker. Her love of family was her greatest joy. She lived her life for them. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she found her greatest strength in her faith in God. Kathleen wishes to thank all the staff at the Cancer Care Center at Lutheran General Hospital for their warm and caring ways; her family and friends for all their prayers and words of encouragement. Her survivors include her husband of 38 years to Hall of Fame Jockey, Earlie Fires whom she married September 3, 1967 at St. Peter Lutheran Church; her children Keith (Teresa) Fires of Gilberts, Kimberly Fires of Chicago and Shannon (Jamie) Hogue of Carpentersville; her grandchildren Kayla Fires and Austin Hogue; her parents; her sisters Darlene (Thomas) Bischoffer and Nancy (Fred) Abrell and many nieces and nephews.
