William Wittern

Of Arlington Heights

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of William V. Wittern, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. William left us on October 20, 2005.

William was pre-deceased by his father, John and his mother Nellie. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen, his daughters Linda, Jody, Lori, son James William and granddaughter Melinda.

Born in Little Rock, Iowa William was one of thirteen brothers and sisters. All brothers enlisted in the service of their country during World War II. William proudly served with the Marine Corps as Corpsman and received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during combat in the South Pacific.

William’s lifelong passion for service and his love of animals led him to a long and successful career in the pharmaceutical and Animal Health Care industries. He began his career with Pfizer and later with Continental Grain and Hoescht Corporation where he was known internationally.

William enjoyed entertaining at home, barbecuing and later delighting his friends and family with his harmonica playing.

Possessed of a fine sense of humor, Bill enjoyed meeting people, walking and was an avid reader. Excellent provider, beloved father and grandfather good friend and neighbor, William will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held  Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights.   Visitation Monday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd.   Interment will be Private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to:. American Red Cross, 544 W. Northwest Hwy., Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
