Henry J. "Hank" Janus

Of Libertyville, formerly Oak Park

Henry J. "Hank" Janus was born August 6, 1911   in Chicago, IL to Pawel and Angeline (nee Szczepanik) Janus.   He died October 11, 2005 at Brentwood Nursing Home in Deerfield.

Mr. Janus was a salesman for Caspers Tin Plate division of Ball Corporation for 36 years, before retiring in 1973.  Hank was a member of the Chicago Federation of Musicians.  He loved music and played the sax and clarinet in several swing and jazz bands.  He was also an avid golfer.

He is survived by his children, Paul W. (Ann) Janus of Lincolnshire, Robert H. (Vicki) Janus of Elgin, and Stephen R. (Laure) Janus of Lombard; his grandchildren, Paul J. (Veronica) Janus, Lorna (David) Wilson, Robert H. Jr. (Gally) Janus, Kristin Janus, Julie Janus, and Matthew Janus and seven great grandchildren.

Henry is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Marguerite, his parents, and his brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 14, 2005 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a "Service of Remembrance" at 7:00 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights.  Prayers will be held 10:15 AM, Saturday, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., proceeding to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles.                           

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind, 1850 W. Roosevelt Rd., Chicago, IL 60608.
