Joseph Patrick Healy
Of Arlington Heights
Friends are called to celebrate the life of Joseph P. Healy, who died at
the young age of 61 years on Friday September 30, 2005 at home.
Born February 12, 1944 on the West Side of Chicago to Joseph and Mary
Catherine (nee Sheehy) Healy, he was a Technical Consultant
Telecommunications for R. H. Donnelley, where he began his career,
formerly with Illinois Bell, Ameritech, SBC and Don Tech and is the
current Vice President of the Arlington Heights Historical Society. Joe
served 38-years in the Illinois National Guard, retiring as a Chief
Warrant Officer III. Since moving to Arlington Heights in 1971, Joe has
been active with many community organizations including the Knights of
Columbus Holy Rosary Council #4483, serving as Grand Knight from
1992-1993; a Fourth Degree member of Elizabeth Ann Seton Assembly;
member of the Columbia Yacht Club; former Scout Master-Boy Scouts of
America Troop #442; supporter of the Sons & Daughters of St. Patrick;
member of SALUTE and a devoted parishioner and volunteer at St. James
Catholic Church.
Known for his personality that would engage and entertain an entire
room, Joe was a volunteer emcee at the Arlington Heights Historical
Society Irish Fest, Long Grove Irish Fest and served as an auctioneer
for the Arlington Heights Historical Society, United Way and Godey
Questors #294 fund raisers. For Bears fans in the south end zone at
Soldier Field, Joe was known as the human siren
that fired up all Chicago football fans. The Super Bowl party hosted in
his home each year celebrated his beloved Chicago Bears regardless of
their record.
Joe is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia (nee Carroll) whom he
married October 5, 1968; his children Maryfran (Carl) Leno of Arlington
Heights, Matthew Healy of Arlington Heights and Annemarie (Patrick)
Flaherty of Los Angeles, Calif; his grandchildren Morgan, Machaela,
Andrew, Molly and Mallory Leno; his mother Marie "Mer" Healy; his sister
Patsy (Richard) Banaszkiewicz and his brother Terrence (Marycarm) Healy.
Joe was the uncle of 20 and great uncle of 2 and God Father of 3; the
brother-in-law, cousin, nephew, co-worker and friend of many. He is
preceded in death by his father Joseph, and his brother Philip Healy.
We will love and remember him as Joepatrick, Joe, Joey, Mr. Chicago, The
Man, Mr. Healy, Uncle Joe, Grandpa Joe and Dad.
Friends may call during visitation Monday and Tuesday, October 3 & 4
from 3:00 until 9:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N.
Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington
Heights. Prayers will be said at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at
Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., proceeding to St. James Church, 831 N.
Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights to celebrate Mass at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
