Joseph W. Hafenscher
Of Arlington Heights

Joseph W. Hafenscher was born June 1, 1931 in Chicago to Joseph and Mary (nee Deutsch) Hafenscher. He died September 16, 2013 at his home in Arlington Heights.

Joe earned his Bachelor’s Degree from DePaul University and his Master’s Degree from Northwestern University.  He was a Social Studies Department Chairman and teacher at Willowbrook High School in Villa Park for 31 years.  After retirement, he was a substitute teacher for 17 more years. He enjoyed playing sixteen inch softball in Chicago and coaching his children in baseball for 24 years in Arlington Heights.  He was a diehard Cub fan and had a passion for politics.   Above all, he loved God and his family more than anything.

Joe is the beloved husband of Anna (nee Cesena) Hafenscher; loving father of Joseph (Rose) Hafenscher, Andrew Hafenscher, Mary (Bill) Binkley, Kathleen (John) Bostrom; cherished grandfather of Lauren, Daniella, Jonathon, Deanna, Taylor, Daniel, Sydney, Mark, Julia; fond brother of Maryann (George) Hartt.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation from 3 PM until 9 PM, Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights.  Prayers 10:15 AM, Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights for Mass at 11 AM.  Burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
