Sophie K. Pepin
Of Arlington Heights
Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Sophie K. Pepin went
to be with the Lord on September 26 at the age of 93 after battling with
a short illness.
A longtime resident of Park Ridge, Sophie spent her later years in
Arlington Heights sharing her life with her daughter, Helen Anderson and
her family. She was born in Berlin, New Hampshire to Stanley and Anna
Kolomitsky, and was married to the late Marcel L. Pepin. She was
preceded in death by her older brother Stanley Kolomitsky, Jr., older
sister, Ann DeVeber and twin sister, Helen Davis.
Over the years, Sophie lent her considerable expertise in money
management to several companies and officially retired in the 1980’s
from McLennan Company Realtors. In her retirement, she was known to best
her family at regular card games but especially showed her extensive
expertise in crossword puzzles and with Scrabble.
A woman who always had a pleasant disposition and an insatiable “sweet
tooth” will be greatly missed by her family and anyone who had the
opportunity to meet her.
She is survived by her children, Paul (Martha), James (Carolan), and
Helen (Terry) Anderson; her grandchildren, Kimberly (Rikk) Keller, Scott
(Michele) Pepin, Richard (Teresa) Anderson, Daniel Anderson, and Rebecca
(Jason) Griffone; and her great-grandchildren, Marlise, Zari, Karis,
Brianna and Audriana.
Visitation from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Friday, September 30, 2011 with a
special celebration and prayer service beginning at 8 p.m. at the
Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks
south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Family and friends will meet
at Glueckert Funeral Home at 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 1, 2011 and
proceed to All Saints Cemetery, 700 N. River Rd., Des Plaines for a
chapel committal service and interment.
