Donald E. Roemer

Donald E. Roemer was born January 14, 1929 in Evanston to George and Margaret (nee Zeutchel) Roemer. He died on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Nazarethville Nursing Home in Des Plaines.

Mr. Roemer was raised in Wilmette where he spent his summers working for the West Moreland Country Club. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Don enjoyed playing golf, watching baseball, and was a loyal Cubs fan.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Caryl (nee Colling) Roemer whom he married May 24, 1952; his children, James (Karen) Roemer, Mary Beth (Mike) Maggio, and Patricia Roemer; his grandchildren, Kristin (Tim) Gullo, Kelly, Matthew (Dina), and Timothy; and his great-granddaughter, Giuliana.

Donald is preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Brown; and by his parents.

Visitation Monday September 26, 2011 from 9:00 AM until time of prayers at 10:15 AM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights, to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Nazarethville Nursing Home, 300 N. River Rd., Des Plaines, IL 60016.
