Elsie Annie McCarthy was born October 30, 1914 in Hackney, London, England to John Ferdinand and Elsie (nee Rowe) Brooks. She passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Mrs. McCarthy enjoyed needlecrafts, gardening, painting, walking, and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Kenneth) Farwick; her grandchildren, Sarah Farwick, Clare Hanes, and Emma (Christopher) Carroll; her great-grandchildren, Justin and Jeremy Herb, and Taylor and Marshall Hanes.

Elsie is preceded in death by her husband, Charles McCarthy; her parents; and her brother, Bert Brooks.

Visitation is from 11:00 AM until time of Funeral Service 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
