Helen
Marie Miehle
Of Wheeling
Helen Marie Miehle was born on October 24, 1912 in Marquette, Michigan
to Frank E. and Joanna Cox. She passed away on August 30, 2010 in
Skokie.
Helen led a very full and wonderful life. In her 97 years, she was a CBS
radio announcer in California, a model, manager of the Lad and Lassie
Kindergarten school in Evanston , President and owner of M & C Blueprint
Company in Skokie, Il. for more than 25 years. She was elected President
of the Chicago North Lady Elks Club for a year’s term and developed many
long lasting friendships still in existence today. Helen was able to
participate in many charity events to help those that did not have the
means to help themselves. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother and friend.
In retirement, she had two holes in one on Florida golf courses, which
her husband “Bud” the accomplished golfer of the family could never
achieve. She was on a traveling bowling team in Florida with a few 299
games which helped her teammates win a few championships.
Throughout her life, Helen always had a special sparkle, making friends
everywhere she went. Helen lived independently, enjoying each day with
her incredible mind that was sharp as a tack, and her wonderful sense of
humor. She loved every minute of her life and lived it to the fullest.
Helen lived most of her 97 years in between Chicago and Florida. She
valued her family and friends above all else. She took responsibility
for her family when they couldn’t take care of themselves and her door
was always open for family and friends in need.
The family wishes to thank the caring nurses at Midwest Palliative &
Hospice Care Center in Skokie, Illinois for attending to Helen in such a
caring way. Helen’s greatest joys in life were her husband, children,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends and especially her
hobbies. Helen will be terribly missed.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Robert J.) Leahy; her
grandchildren, Bonnye (Jim) Lapotka, Bill (Jennifer) Nichols and Mike
Nichols; and her great-grandchildren, Nicholas Ludford, Clifford and
Anthony Colangelo, Cooper and Scarlett Nichols, and Shelby Lapotka.
