Edward Miller, Jr.
Of Prospect Heights
Elmer Edward Miller Jr. was born May 22, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa to
Elmer Sr. and Mary (nee Johnston) Miller. He passed away on Saturday,
August 28, 2010 at the Lutheran Home for the Aged in Arlington Heights.
Mr. Miller was a member of the sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity at
University of Iowa in Iowa City. He was the founder and co-owner along
with his partner, Martin Kastner, of Kastner Miller Designs in Mt.
Prospect for 29 years, where they designed catalogues for many companies
including W.W. Grainger. He and his partner started the business at
Busse and Oakton Sts. in Park Ridge and relocated to Des Plaines on
Dempster Street. He closed his business and retired at age 67and enjoyed
his cabin on the Lake Lucerne near Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
He is survived by his sister, Molly (the late Richard) Bryan; his nieces
and nephew, Annrita (Dan) Mitchell, Jeff Bryan, Sally and Susan Bryan;
and his great-nieces, Taylor, and Tara Mitchell.
Elmer is preceded in death by his wife, Fanny; his sister, Joan; and his
parents.
Memorial Service is at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the
Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks
south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Entombment was private.
