Joanne Seagard
Of Arlington Heights

Joanne Seagard was born May 12, 1946 in Elgin to John Anthony and Kathryn (nee Stromberg) Boehmer. She died Sunday, September 24, 2006 at her home.

Mrs. Seagard graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Art Education and was a fine arts teacher for Palatine School District #15, at the junior high school level and in a private school. She also worked as a commercial artist. Joanne was an accomplished watercolor artist. She exhibited her work at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, Luther Village, Arlington Heights Artists on Display, and an exhibition of her own watercolor paintings in the Heritage Gallery of the Arlington Heights Historical Museum. She was a supporter of the Les Turner ALS Foundation and was featured in their 2005 Annual Report. Joanne will be fondly remembered for her unique ability to bring out the beauty she saw in nature and in the people around her.

Her survivors include her husband Peter whom she married January 11, 1969; her children Jeffrey Seagard of Chicago, Jana Seagard of Chicago and Jill (Steve) Urban of Crystal Lake; her brother Donald (Marlene) Boehmer, sisters Elaine Schaefges and Kathi (Ty) Weindorf; her mother-in-law Ruth Seagard; and her many nieces and nephews.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation from 3:00 until 9:00 PM, Thursday, September 28, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 AM, Friday, September 29, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Les Turner-ALS Foundation, 8142 N. Lawndale Ave., Skokie, IL 60076-3322.
