Wendell G. Irwin
Of Arlington Heights

Wendell G. Irwin was born in Frostburg, MD on February 18, 1927 to Emanuel and Anna (nee Meyers) Irwin. He died on September 11, 2006 of heart disease in Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights.

Mr. Irwin was a graduate of Frostburg High School. He served in the United States Army during WWII in Augsburg, Germany, where he met and married his wife, Ellie. After his service, Mr. Irwin returned to the States and pursued his love of aeronautical and automotive mechanics. He owned and operated his own automotive business in Des Plaines for 30 years. He was then employed by DeSoto Inc. Upon his retirement, he drove a school bus for handicapped children for Septran. Mr. Irwin loved to drive and travel and especially enjoyed visiting friends and family.

Wendell is survived by his loving wife, Ellie (nee Grimmbacher), whom he married on May 11, 1948, his children; Stephen W. (Lynne) of Avondale, Arizona and Rosemarie (Robert) Morris of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his grandchildren, Thomas and Nicholas Irwin and Christopher and Tyler Morris; his sister, Eunice Love of Baltimore, Maryland; and his brother-in-law, Frank Grimmbacher.

Memorial Visitation 1:00 PM until time of Memorial Service at 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (four blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Interment private.
