Rita L. Obuchowski
Of Huntley
Rita. L. Obuchowski (nee Blazek), formerly of Buffalo Grove, was born
June 14, 1925 in Chicago, to Frank and Wanda (nee Adamik) Blazek. She
died Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
As a young girl Rita was a bright student, moving up a couple of grades
in grammar school to help quench her thirst for learning. During World
War II Rita helped the war effort by working as a riveter for tanks and
airplanes. After the war she married Joseph A. Obuchowski, a World War
II Army Air Corps veteran. She went on to become a Catholic
schoolteacher at St. Mary Magdalene in New Orleans, LA. She later became
a librarian and worked for the Palatine Public Library, North Suburban
Library System and finally as a distinguished member of the Board of
Trustees of the Indian Trails Public Library District. She also was a
member of the Sun City Gardening Club and volunteered at the Huntley
Library and as a proof reader for the Sun City Lifestyles magazine. Rita
has a passion for her family, reading, education and gardening.
Rita is survived by her children Michael Obuchowski of Huntley, Tina
(Tim) Duffy of Oak Park, Karyn (Bill) Petersen of Lakewood and Joe
(Maureen) Obuchowski of Geneva; grandchildren Danny, Timmy, Jamie, Will,
Rachel, Sam, Brittany, Blake and Storm; sister Annette Blazek.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Obuchowski and her
sister Camille Dettman.
Visitation Tuesday, September 6, 2005 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the
Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks
south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights and Wednesday, September 7,
2005 at St. Edna Catholic Church 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road,
Arlington Heights from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at
10:00 AM. Interment will be at St. Adalbert Cemetery. |
