Donald J. Lund

Donald J. Lund was born on May 26, 1937 in Chicago to Osmo and Ellen (nee Lahti) Lund. He passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 in Arlington Heights.

Donald graduated with a Master’s degree from Northern Illinois University and was the principal of Ridgewood High School, Norridge where he also was a golf coach. He enjoyed woodworking and served as the president of the Northern Illinois Hockey Association. He also enjoyed playing in the St. James golf league.

Donald is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mariellen (nee Smith); his children, Andrew Lund, Jennifer (Thomas) Monaghan, Christopher (Elizabeth) Lund and Matthew (Kimberly) Lund; his beloved grandchildren, Nikolas, Kalee, Brittany, Jack, Aidan and Anna; his niece, Mary Anne Newman; and his nephew, James Hanlon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Richard Lund.

Visitation from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights and Friday, August 9, 2013 from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights. Interment All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, 1114 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
