Ruth Jane (Browne) Radel

Ruth Jane (Browne) Radel was born on October 24, 1922 in Waukegan to Richard Jerome and Gladys (nee Ward) Browne. She died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in Arlington Heights.

Ruth was the beloved wife of Floyd W. Radel for over 60 years. They were married on November 24, 1951 in Waukegan. Prior to her marriage, she worked several years as a secretary at the Waukegan Plant of United States Steel Corporation. Floyd spent most of his working life for the same company but at several locations in the accounting department.

The Radels travelled extensively and were great sports fans, especially University of Wisconsin football and Cubs baseball. Volunteer work was an important part of their free time as Ruth volunteered at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library for over 25 years and Floyd 16 years with the AARP income tax assistance program for senior citizens.

Ruth graduated from the Lake College of Commerce and Floyd from the University of Wisconsin – Madison Business School.

There will be a memorial service at 12:00 PM Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Memory Gardens & Mausoleum, 2501 E. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights. Inurnment will be at the same address.
