Linda Downie

Linda K. Downie was born June 30, 1953 in Evanston to Edward and Mary Lew (nee Pennington) Nehring. She passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012 after a short battle with ovarian cancer.

Linda was loved by many and touched numerous lives throughout her 3 decade career as a speech pathologist, over 20 of those years at district 96 at Ivy Hall and Woodlawn middle schools. She was also committed to volunteer work; heading up a PADS shelter and recently working with therapy dogs.

Linda is survived by her spouse of 33 years, Kevin Downie, her children, Megan Downie, and Philip Downie; her mother Mary Lew Nehring; her siblings Neil (Karen) Nehring and Sandy (Kim) Dockus; her nephews, Mitch, and Tim; her nieces, Stacey, and Rachel.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Nehring.

Memorial service will be at First Presbyterian Church, 302 North Dunton Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL 60004 on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow at the church.
