Karen Johlie
Formerly of Arlington Heights
Karen A. Johlie was born September
29, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio to
Michael and Annabelle (Giantonio)
McHale. She died August 24, 2012, at
St. Alexius Medical Center in
Hoffman Estates.
Karen attended the Beaumont School
for Girls and graduated from
Ursuline College (Cleveland) in
1958. She met her husband Tom, who
attended John Carroll University in
Cleveland, after graduation they
married and moved to Chicago.
Although she was born and raised in
Cleveland, she came to embrace all
things Chicago. She found great joy
in cultivating her gardens and
traveling.
Karen is survived by her children
Chris (Terri); Kathy Johlie, Michael
(Anne Marie), Patrick (Melissa),
Susan Johlie, Peter (Karen), Matthew
(Sharon) and Mary (Kent) Harrison;
her adored grandchildren Matt,
Megan, Kelly, Kevin, Tom, Julie Ann,
Anthony, Christopher, Rebecca,
Ursula, Jack, Emma, Ben, Sean,
Clare, Erin, Griffin, Annabelle and
Grant; her dear brother Michael (Marigene)
McHale, sister-in-law Mary Clare
(Paul) Olson and 10 nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her
husband Thomas G. Johlie.
Visitation Tuesday, from 3 until 9
PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home,
Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd.,
(4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.)
Arlington Heights and Wednesday at
St. Edna Catholic Church 2525 N.
Arlington Heights Road, Arlington
Heights from 9AM until 9:45 AM,
Funeral Mass at 10 AM, Wednesday at
St. Edna Church. Interment will be
at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be given to The
American Cancer Society, 1114 N.
