William J. “Bill” McCarthy
Of Arlington Heights for 44 years

William James “Bill” McCarthy was born on June 25, 1927 in Chicago to John T. and Margaret E (nee O’Connor) McCarthy. He passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012 in Arlington Heights.

After a lifelong career in the paper business, Bill retired from Repap Paper Co. where he served as the Vice President of Sales.

He is survived by his children, Jim (Karla) McCarthy, Stephen McCarthy, Tim (Teresa) McCarthy, John McCarthy, Mary (Tom) Gorniak, Brian McCarthy and Margaret McCarthy; and his grandchildren, Christopher, Kevin, Erin, Ryan, Eddie, Colleen, Brenden, Kelly, Jack, Patrick and Megan.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann (nee Taylor), whom he married on September 29, 1951 in Evanston; his parents; his sister, Mary Jane (the late George) Keane; and his brother, Jack (the late Peggy) McCarthy.

Visitation 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 am Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the funeral home to St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Road, for 10:00 am Mass.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Cardinal Bernadin Early childhood Center, 1651 Diversey Parkway, Chicago, IL 60614.
