Harry T. McCollum
Of Arlington Heights

Harry T. McCollum was born February 25, 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Harry E. and Elizabeth (nee “Betty” Reddy) McCollum. He died on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at his home in Arlington Heights.

Mr. McCollum was a graduate of St. Mary of the Mount in Pittsburgh where he was the Senior Class President, and was a member of the Glee Club with his wife, Pat. He worked and received many awards in medical sales for most of his career. Mr. McCollum was a member of the National Guard for eight years. He was the proud owner of Harrys’ of Arlington since 1993, where you would often see him enjoying his favorite homemade beef barley soup. He was a very hard worker and provider for his family, who adored his 13 grandchildren and wife, Pat. Harry was an SOR Teacher, and a Bereavement and Eucharistic Minister at St. James Church. He was a standout athlete most of his life, and was an avid sports fan and coach. He loved to fish and enjoyed musicals, singing and fantasy football.

He is survived by his children, Kathy (Steve) Butler of Wauconda, Patty (Steve) Barker of Arlington Heights, Harry (Ann) McCollum of Arlington Heights, Greg (Sharon) McCollum of Arlington Heights and Barbara (Dwain) Holden of Harvard; his grandkids, Amanda (Chris) Edwards, Jessica and Krista Butler, Andrew, Trevor and Franklin Barker, Harry and Joe McCollum, Ryan, Megan and Shannon McCollum, and Tyler and Carissa Holden.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Ann (nee Winstel) McCollum; his parents; and his sister, Ginny (Harry) Kennedy.

Visitation from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 AM, Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment is at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
