Philip M. Smith
Formerly of Arlington Heights
Philip M. Smith, of Austin, Texas was born December 31, 1939 in Chicago
to Philip A. and Ruth (nee Walther) Smith. He died on Wednesday, August
10, 2011 at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center in Austin, Texas.
Philip worked for 40 years with the US Government. He was a member of
the Knights of Columbus Holy Rosary Council # 4483 in Arlington Heights,
Past Grand Knight of St. Thomas More Council #9997 and was a charter
member of St. Vincent de Paul Council #13927 in Austin, . He was very
active at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Austin, and previously served as
an usher and on many committees at St. Edna Church. He was an avid train
collector.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (nee McNeill) Smith; his children,
Philip W. “Bill” Smith, and Kathleen (Jason) Roberts; his stepchildren,
Nancy and Rob Wright; and his sister, Pat (Richard) Ragone.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the
Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks
south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights and Friday, August 19, 2011
from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Edna
Catholic Church 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.
Interment is at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
