Donna Mensing Halvorsen
Formerly Of Prospect Heights
Donna M. Halvorsen, a resident of New Palestine, IN, for the past five
years,
passed into heaven Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at St. Vincent Seton
Specialty Hospital, in
Indianapolis, Indiana. Donna was born January 14, 1936 in Glen Ellyn,
Ill., to Clifford
and Frances (nee Seamen) Mensing.
Donna was a 1954 graduate of Dundee High School. Mrs. Halvorsen was a
bus driver
for Community Consolidated School Dist. #15, Palatine for over 25 years
before retiring.
Donna enjoyed bowling and playing Bridge. She was also a SCUBA
instructor for the
YMCA and was awarded Miss Illini Diver. While instructing for West
Suburban YMCA
Atlantis Divers she met her husband Rolf, whom she married October 21,
1961.
Donna’s survivors include her children, Rolf Halvorsen Jr. of Volo, IL
and Jill (Adam) Stedham of New Palestine, IN.; her grandchildren Ian and Sam Stedham,
and Kiana R.
Jensen Halvorsen; her brothers Rev. Glenn (Sharon) Mensing and John
(Connie)
Mensing.
She is preceded in death by her husband (Rolf), her parents and her
brothers Clifford
Mensing and Robert Mensing.
Visitation from 9:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM,
Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N.
Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
