Edward J. Hester, Ph.D., of Topeka, Kansas, a childhood resident of Cary, Ill., was born January 23, 1938 in Chicago to Edward and Irene (nee Kalteux) Hester. He died October 28, 2010 in Berkley, California after a six month battle with lung and brain cancer.

Dr. Hester, a renowned member of the Industrial Psychology community, worked as Director of Rehabilitation and Research for Goodwill Industries, National Rehabilitation Consultant for Goodwill Industries of America, Director of Programs for the Handicapped for Chicago City Colleges and his last position was Director of Research for the Menninger Return to Work Centers and the Menninger Management Institute.

Dr. Hester received many honors during his career and was the inventor of over six systems used in Industrial Psychology today.

He is survived by his beloved wife Mary L Derum, for 25 years; his six children; his 10 grandchildren; his sister Laura Rose Sanchez of Albuquerque, NM, and his brother Paul (Judy) Hester of Arlington Heights.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Mass 10 AM, Saturday, August 13, 2011 at St. Edna Catholic Church 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.
