Joseph Edward Anderlik
Of Arlington Heights
Joseph E. “Paco” Anderlik was born April 9, 1922 in Mexico City, Mexico
to Edward and Maria (nee Diaz) Anderlik. He died on Monday, August 1,
2011 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights surrounded by
his wife, children and many grandchildren.
Mr. Anderlik served as a radioman gunner in the Navy during WW II and
flew off of the USS Franklin in the Pacific Theater. He flew 125 combat
missions and was awarded two air medals for the destruction of two enemy
aircraft during the battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines. He was an
avid outdoorsman and a renowned decoy carver specializing in loons. Joe
was a great storyteller who touched the lives of many people. He was
deeply loved by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marcheta (nee Glasgow) Anderlik
whom he married June 10, 1950 in Chicago; his children, Jean (Ken)
Preski, Mary Buishas, Barbara Griffin, Betsy Anderlik, Lisa (Brent)
Clark, Robert (Sharon) Anderlik, and Debbi Davis; his 22 grandchildren,
and 12 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, John (Barbara) Anderlik,
Theresa (the late George) Schott, and Rosemary (John) Croghan.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the
Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks
south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:45 AM, Friday,
August 5, 2011 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to St. James Church,
831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:30 AM.
Interment is at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.
